(From the Limerick Township Mayor and Fire Department and Marmora and Lake Fire Department)
As of today, August 11, 2025, the Copeway Lake fire is still considered “not under control”. However, it is surrounded by firefighters who are remaining onsite. The fire is extremely stubborn because it is burning about 30 inches underground and they are observing it carefully. They caution that there will be a lot of smoke.
(Note: To avoid getting the smoky smell in your home, keep your windows closed. People with asthma should avoid going outdoors during those smoky periods).
Please continue watching for updates on the Ontario Forest Fire Hub at https://www.lioapplications.lrc.gov.on.ca/ForestFireInformationMap/index.html?viewer=FFIM.FFIM
Continue to be diligent and PLEASE follow all Fire Ban directives. We are in an extremely critical drought.
