False 911 Calls Cost us Dearly !

The Ontario Provincial Police responded to 472 false calls from our area last year. The OPP must respond to every 911 call. False calls include hang-up calls, dialing error calls, prank calls, pocket calls (phone being dialed while in your pocket) & small children playing with a cell phone. The responses to false calls cost the area about $ 76,000. The OPP budget has jumped from $81,500 to about $236,300 in three years. Help avoid false calls and therefore reduce our policing budget commitment.
